Minki is a postdoctoral researcher in mechanical engineering at Brown University. As a teen who was heavily inspired by the scientists who made groundbreaking discoveries in quantum mechanics, Minki applied to the Korean Science Academy, a high school that offers specialized education for students who are interested in exploring math and science. After high school, Minki attended Seoul National University, the top-ranked university school in South Korea, for his undergraduate years.
Now doing research on multifocal and multiphase flows, Minki uses his expertise in simulations and theories to investigate and tackle the environmental problems of the world.
Having completed his Ph.D., here is some of the advice that Minki offered me in his interview:
1. Meet new people and create a relationship with them. Having a supportive group of people who will be there for you will allow you to overcome the challenges that you come across.
2. Don't hesitate to reach out to people. Most of the time, people will be open to others and they are willing to help. Take advantage of that and get the help you need
3. Don’t narrow down your education to specific things that you seem to be really interested in. Keep an open mind.
